Stay Alert with Proactive IT Management
There’s nothing quite like getting a dinner-time call from a panicked client. His system is down. He’s afraid of losing business. And he’s relying on you to get it fixed…now.
So instead of a hot dinner, you’re headed back to the office to solve the problem, or spending an hour getting ahold of a technician who can. That’s the world of reactive IT service, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
The Power of Proactive Problem Solving
With a shift to proactive IT support, you’ll see problems coming—and be able to stop them—before they ever cause a work stoppage. That means less downtime for clients. The more proactive you can be, the more your clients will come to depend on your support, and the faster you’ll grow your company and your bottom line.
Ready to make the shift? According to Gartner, nearly 90% of surveyed businesses score just a 2 out of 5 for IT maturity. That means they know reactive support isn’t going to help them grow, but they don’t know how to make the transition. If this sounds familiar, keep reading.

Be on the Alert
In a perfect world, you could take the next step toward proactive maintenance while simultaneously improving reactive response times. Straight out of the box, LabTech gives you preconfigured service plans—based on industry best practices—and multiple alert actions for agent and agentless devices.
Alert templates can be created or assigned in LabTech’s default alert template settings. Alert actions, contact information, start & end times, and success & fail messages are configured in the alert templates. One alert template can be created to control the actions of hundreds of monitors. Alerts are generated when a monitor has reached a pre-defined threshold and the assigned alert template has a ‘RaiseAlert’, ‘RaiseWarning’, or ‘RaiseInformation’ alert action associated with it.
With alert templates, you can set day or time based alert actions. A single template could work one way during business hours and another way after hours. Common actions include:
- Raising an alert
- Sending an email
- Creating a ticket
- Running a script
Better still, if you’ve taken the time to integrate LabTech with a powerful business management solution, you’ve created endless possibilities for alerting and automation. With the right templates in place, that dinner-time emergency call becomes a thing of the past. Your clients get uninterrupted service, and you go back to enjoying your evenings.
