Intel vPro

Intel is a world leader in computing innovation. The company designs and manufactures microprocessor chipsets and the additional hardware, software and related services that together serve as the foundation for many of the world’s computing devices. Intel has established a heritage of innovation that continues to expand the reach and promise of computing while advancing the ways people work and live worldwide. Intel vPro technology resides as a hardware option that many desktops and laptops support. Businesses powered by the Intel® Core™ vPro™ processor family take intelligent client computing to the next level – maximizing hardware-assisted security, simplifying PC management and providing responsive, adaptive performance.

Intel vPro: Beyond VPN

Downtime is lost productivity. As an IT service provider, your job is to get your clients back up and running quickly and efficiently, but VNC, RDP and other remote control technology only enables you to remote control a computer’s keyboard, video and mouse when the computer is operational. Intel’s vPro keyboard-video-mouse (KVM) technology runs below the operating system at the hardware layer to enable remote management and connectivity even if the OS is not operational or if a PC is shutdown. Intel vPro KVM support is available to LabTech partners at no additional cost.

The new integrated Intel vPro plug-in enables easy onboarding of vPro devices, automated vPro asset device discovery and provisioning with enhanced security options. The plug-in also provides for seamless core Intel vPro management functions such as power on/off, KVM remote control and web user interface support directly from the LabTech computer management workspace.

Intel vPro Features

  • Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) enables IT service providers to remotely manage computing issues and achieve inventory control.
  • Intel’s vPro keyboard-video-mouse (KVM) technology lets you boot to BIOS, boot to remote ISO and remotely reload the OS if needed – all with a full graphical view of the user’s screen.
  • Remote power capabilities let you automate after-hours shutdown.
  • Intel vPro runs below the operating system (OS) at the hardware layer and enables you to remote control (KVM) through the hardware, even if the OS is not operational or if a PC is shutdown.
  • Intel vPro is built into the clients’ PCs, so there is nothing additional to purchase.

Intel vPro Benefits

  • Single-Click Provisioning - With Intel vPro 7.0 and higher, LabTech users can inventory and remotely provision (i.e. enable and configure for use) Intel vPro capable machines with a single click, without the need to manually visit each machine.
  • Out-of-the-Box KVM Capabilities - LabTech supports Intel vPro keyboard-video-mouse (KVM) capabilities with no manual pre-requisite setup or labor requirements – simply click and remotely connect and control.
  • Reduce Downtime - Intel vPro-based PCs typically experience half the average downtime as a non-vPro PC.
  • Minimize Site Visits - KVM capabilities reduce site visits that would otherwise have required a truck roll.
  • Less Energy Usage - Remote power cycling capabilities let you automate after-hours shutdown, reducing your clients’ energy costs.
